Creating Printable Floral Clusters with Melinda

Hello scrappy friends, Melinda here with you today to share how I created these beautiful floral clusters digitally to scrap a hybrid 12x12 layout!

When I am playing with Traci’s collections I tend to have a play in Photoshop Elements before I print anything so I am not printing a tonne of (beautiful!!) supplies that build up over time. For this layout using the gorgeous and FREE Radiate Joy collection I knew I wanted to start with one full 12x12 pattern paper and another 6x12 pattern paper so that was easy enough to narrow down.

With my background and photo chosen I jumped into my favourite part of the design process – embellishing! After looking through all of the stickers and the digital elements available I decided I’d use those absolutley beautiful digital florals from the embellishments.

As I was playing around; dragging, dropping, rotating and re-sizing the florals and leaves, I had the idea that when I came up with a design I was happy with to merge them all together and create a GIANT floral cluster; or 2!

I don’t know about you but I so often come up with a design I love with products and then when it’s time to glue it all down I lose the exact placement I just had! Merging all of my layers together meant that I had all of the pieces exactly where I wanted them, in exactly the “right” orientation for how I wanted them on my page.

After they were merged into one layer I copied them onto a new A4 sized blank document and saved that as a PNG file to open in Silhouette Studio. From there it was a case of turning on the registration marks, tracing the design and then adding an offset to my cut lines. If you are going to follow along, make sure that after you create your offset lines that you delete/turn the original cut lines that you traced otherwise you will end up with 2 cut lines!! Don’t ask how I know that lol

Now that all of my pieces were printed and cut I could assemble all of my layers without too much messing around because I’d already done all of the designing in Photoshop.

I love the way these floral clusters came together and love the way they frame the elements on my page. Being able to print things at whatever size I like, as many times as I like and as many different ways as my imagination allows is one of my favourite things about hybrid scrapbooking – especially with pretty much ALL of Traci’s gorgeous collections!!

I do have a process video for you to follow along with the assembly of this page if you’re interested and you can watch that on my YT channel, on this link https://youtu.be/r5eJHcSzYwg

I hope that you have enjoyed my share today and that I helped you to see digital embellishments in a slightly different, hybrid light!!
