Using A Bookish Book Tracker Page as a Sequin Shaker!
When I first saw this collection, I immediately fell in love with the fabulous Book Journal Tracker pages. The clean design and versatility made them perfect for so many creative projects. I couldn’t wait to incorporate them into my crafting, and I was especially excited to find a way to feature one prominently on a 12x12 layout.
To make the Book Journal Tracker the star of my layout, I printed one of the tracker pages onto an inkjet transparency sheet. Printing on transparency gave it a unique, layered effect that feels light and modern. Once printed, I carefully trimmed the sheet to size, ensuring it would fit seamlessly into my layout.
For the background behind the transparency, I selected a striped paper from the collection. The bold yet playful design added just the right amount of visual interest without overpowering the tracker page.
To add a touch of whimsy, I decided to transform the transparency into a sequin shaker element. Using my regular sewing machine, I stitched the transparency and striped paper together along three sides, leaving the top open. Before sealing the pocket, I poured in a mix of sequins that complemented the colors in the collection.
Once the sequins were in place, I carefully stitched the side closed to secure them. The finished element is not only visually striking but also interactive, adding a playful movement to the layout.
Since the sequin shaker already incorporated stitching, I decided to carry that detail across the entire layout. I layered three different patterned papers from the collection as the background and stitched them down using my sewing machine.
The stitching not only ensured the layers were secure but also added texture and dimension. The thread's subtle lines create a cohesive flow across the layout and make the patterns feel even more connected.
With the base of my layout complete, it was time to embellish. I sifted through the sticker die cuts included in the collection, choosing pieces that would enhance my design without overwhelming it.
I placed my photo on the right-hand side of the sequin shaker to draw attention to the main subject. To balance the layout, I used one of the Bookish Cards on the left-hand side. This card not only added symmetry but also tied into the bookish theme of the layout.
To finish the layout, I added various die cuts around the page. These final touches added depth and personality, tying the theme of the layout together beautifully.
This project was so much fun to create, and I love how the Book Journal Tracker page became the focal point of my layout. By incorporating elements like transparency, sequins, and stitching, I was able to create a layout that feels dynamic and textured.
If you’re looking to try something similar, don’t be afraid to experiment with materials like transparency sheets and stitching—small details can make a big impact!
