Traci - Island Time

Paper strips are a PERFECT way to use up leftovers or to use many papers when you can only print up to 8.5x11, so I tackled my Island Time stash with another photo from Hawaii! Some fun change ups - I replaced one paper strip with a row of surfboards, changed my photo orientation to vertical and added texture through distressing and string!

Donna - Flower Child

I used the sketch as is but replaced some elements where there should be some word bits. I also added lots of floral clusters for dimension. This is such a fun sketch and I love how my take on it turned out.

Emiley - Beautiful Dreamer $5 Sampler

Sketchy Sundays are my favorite! I absolutely love using sketches, and this sketch by Traci is such a fun one.

I decided to use the Beautiful Dreamer collection for this layout because it has an amazing mixed media element that could be used to replace some of the paper strips in the middle of the sketch. I really love how easy (and clean!) it is to add a mixed media feel to my layouts with these elements Traci creates.

Danica - Summer Camp

Sketches are a great way to jump start your creativity! For today’s sketch my page quickly came together using Traci’s Summer Camp collection and her alphabet from Equinox. I love how this sketch focuses on one photo. The strips behind the photo can be made using papers or ribbons or a mixture of both. This is a great  sketch and I’ll probably use it again by flipping it around in the future.

Ophie - Weekender

I loved working with this sketch. I liked how the photo is placed over the layers of paper. I chose to use Weekender kit since I have many travel photos that I have yet to scrap. I was able to use alot of patterned papers without overwhelming the page along with elements here and there to frame the photo. I chose to use a smaller word art rather than a large title. I wanted to keep the focus on the photo.

Melinda - Candy Coated Christmas

I really love all of the fun vertical strips and textures in the background so as soon as I chose my photos (yep, 2 3x4’s rather than 1 4x6 today) and the collection I wanted to play with I grabbed some metal dies and got printing!

I’ve used the adorable “Candy Coated Christmas” collection as it was the first collection that popped into my head that had the “right” hits of light pink and dark green that worked with my photos! And I think I did a reasonable job of making this Christmas collection work for non-Christmas themed photos because I focused on the colours and the more neutral icons.

This was a super fun sketch to play with and I can think of a bunch of different ways to create those vertical strips in the background so I may even pull this out again!!
