Traci - Weekender
This sketch is deceptively simple, but with the right combination of papers, it can be super fun! I used the Weekender collection (with a couple stickers from #foodie) to document our car-cuterie board we bought for the road trip on the way out of Wisconsin and it was the perfect compliment for this story!

Sketchy #50 was so fun to work with and made putting my layout super easy. I chose one of Traci's amazing plaid patterns as my background and it mimicked the chevron pattern on the sketch perfectly. All that was left to do was sprinkle some flowers around my photos and pop up my title on foam tape. To finish it off, I used some medium matte gel to apply sea beads and sand to resemble bubbly waves in the beach.
Vanessa - Candy Coated Christmas
The sketch this week was fun to work with. I loved the diagonal pattern papers that created the background, so I knew that is something I wanted to incorporate on my layout.
For my layout I chose the Candy-Coated Christmas collection and to play off the stripped papers in the sketch I decided to cut a 6-inch strip of paper and layer up three patterned papers from the collection to recreate the diagonal stripes of the sketch. With my stripped papers complete I took a white cardstock and added some stamping to create a background to add my diagonal striped paper onto. Once the background was done, I backed my photo, added my title, and layered up lots of embellishments to complete the layout.
One of the things I love about sketches is you can always make them work for you. I didn’t want to do the entire background with paper strips, so I made it work for me. Sketches are a great way to spark your creativity when you need a starting off point. In the end I love how this layout came together. Noemi - Wildflower
When you just want to sit down and create something easy, sketches are a great starting point. You can replicate them exactly or use them as a guide to let your creative juices flow. In this case, I stuck with the original design and challenged myself to use a soft color palette. Inspired by spring and the upcoming Mother's Day, the Wildflower collection was perfect for documenting this photo with my mom. I created contrast between the light colors in the background and the dark tones in the photo to make it the focal point and added the final touches with lots of flowers.
Donna - Island Time
I flipped the sketch the other way around so the direction of the chevrons complements the orientation of the photo better. Then I simply chose the papers and alternated them with the colors and patterns in mind. I also used a pattern paper from the 6x8 signatures pack. I used all the florals again to create clusters and layers of embellishments. A few stickers and other word art embellishments completed the layout.

I loved using this sketch for two reasons. Firstly, because it gave me a chance to choose and display some of my favourite papers from this stunning collection. Secondly, because it immediately draws the eye to the larger statement photo because of the angle of the strips of paper. It is also very versatile. I decided to use this sketch to create a TN layout of our recent family holiday.
