Teach Me Tuesday: Digital Stamps and Cut Files!
Theresa - Sunkissed
This topic is my favorite, because digital products allow so much flexibility for your layouts! Using digital embellishments as a stamp in particular allows you to manipulate the size and also what parts of the stamp are used, as I’ve done in this layout about self love.
There are a couple of ways to accomplish the layered look I’ve achieved here. I started with one of the rainbow stamps in the Sunkissed collection and brought it into Photoshop. Save your file into a separate folder so you don’t alter your original, and then Load your stamps as brushes. After your stamps are loaded, you will find them in the Brushes menu.
You can alter the size of your stamp prior to placing it onto your page, and then in the Layers menu Duplicate your embellishment two more times. In each Layer, take your Erase tool and Erase the bows you don’t want. Then you can clip your patterned papers to each Layer to get a different patterned paper on each bow.
These rainbows are also available as digital stickers. You can bring them into your Silhouette software and Trace each bow, print your patterned papers, and then cut out each bow from your different patterned papers. You can delete the cut lines using the Delete Point tool as well.
Sabrina -Sunkissed
Hi. This is Sabrina and I’m going to teach you a few little things to do with your digital stamps!
My project is a 7x8.25 page to start my June 2021 monthly section in my me album. I used the Sunkissed collection plus a black paper from the Summer Camp papers. Love this different summer color scheme with the pop of black.
I took digital stamps from the Sunkissed collection and did some random stamping all over the background. A mix of the diamonds, rainbows and a circle stamp with “relax”.
Another way I elevated my digital stamps is with the letterboard stamp that said “warm air messy hair don’t care. I added multiple layers to the digital stamp and recolored them to have a pink and orange. I then cut out the orange section in the middle where the letters were so you could see the pink color. It made for a customized letterboard that matched my color scheme.
The last little trick I did involves adding papers to a title digital stamp “summer vibes” and also to a flower stamp. I clipped the papers to these stamps to get a more realistic look to my title and flowers. For “summer vibes” I repeated the same technique as the letter board with cutting out the different papers for each word. So I only had pink for the word “summer” and the patterned orange paper for “vibes”. The flower stamp I simply clipped a black paper to the stamp and then I had some black flowers.
I hope these techniques and tricks inspire you to try new things with your digital stamps. Digital stamps are incredibly versatile!
