Using Ribbon and Trim to create texture with Tai!
Hello my scrappy friends! Its Tai, and I’m back with about fun project. Do you have a collection of ribbons and trims that you barely use? I know I do. And I keep buying more ribbon whenever I find cute ones. So, if you are anything like me, this project is for you and to at least put some of these trims to use on a project.
I recently picked up this bundle of ‘fall themed’ ribbons from Michael’s. And the colors work perfectly for the new Equinox collection.
The collection includes prompt based journaling TN signatures which I absolutely love to jump start my layout. This one with narrow rectangles numbered 1-10 I knew I wanted to use. Now to build a layout around this printable. I also loved this patterned paper because it includes all the colors available with the collection, so no matter which direction I went this page would work. So then I also decided my photos had to be horizontal orientation as well. I used the app called MOLDIV, to make my 3 photo collage of a recent photo session I did with my daughter in a large denim jacket that she will eventually grow into by high school.
I wanted to use a few of the patterned papers in the collection to give a rectangle design to the left side of my double page layout in my Citrus Twist Life Crafted album. Then to jazz up my layout and add that texture, I used to the trim to separate each section.
I selected trim with some navy/blues in it, some orange/creams and some natural fibers too for a different texture per section.
Each trim went well with the paper and the photos.
I could not leave the TN signature page flat, so I went ahead and added trim to the top and bottom of this page too. All the trims are different and gives the project character.
For the last sparkle, I added sequin from Spiegelmom scraps and found colors to match each color down the page. It adds even more texture and interest to the project. If you have tons of trim in your stash, give this project a try and use it on an upcoming project.
Thank you for joining me. Til next time, stay creative.
