Photo Idea From Ophelia: Enhance Your Images with Reflections
When I take photos, like most everyone, I’ll take photos of my family and what’s going on at that moment. Then I’ll focus on capturing some creative shots, especially techniques that I have been meaning to try out.
We were ending off our Christmas adventure and heading home for the night. I saw a puddle and knew it would be a perfect time to try out a reflection shot. You can do this shot with a phone or DSLR camera. With the DSLR, the key is to get as low as possible and take a photo of the reflection. You may need a few takes. These are the two shots I got. If your DSLR has a live view option, it will make it easier.
For phones, the easier way is to hold the phone upside down and take a shot after you compose it. Of these two shots, I loved this one where I got more of the courthouse in the reflection and was able to mirror it.
The shot you take depends on what you prefer. I’ve seen reflection shots where it’s just a sliver or a reflection on a window. I’m including a shot where I took a straight on shot of my reflection in the store window using my phone and also a daytime shot in New York City.

Here is my page using the reflection photo with the Festive Collection. I wanted the main focus to be the photo so I centered it and lined up the paper and elements to surround it so the eyes immediately go to the center.
