Mix It Up Monday: I Voted + We The People
Hello and welcome to the Twenty-Eighth edition of our fun series: Mix It Up Monday! We love to show you how easy it is to mix and match TRD collections to create something new and wonderful! Today we’re working with the I Voted and We The People collections! I voted is my update to the original voting collection from the 2016 election, We The People. It only felt right for these two bookends to be joined together to create new beauty and beauty is what Trish, Cassie, Allie, and Danica created!
Check out the team’s examples below and I can’t wait to see you mix these two collections up too!
Allie
Obviously, the subject matter of these two collections goes together amazingly — but I’m also always impressed at how well Traci makes the colors coordinate too! Obviously, there’s the red, white, and blue, but Traci adds in the teals and pinks and creams too— which makes blending collections easy (going off of the blue and red) and fun and interesting too (by playing around with adding the teals and creams to the layouts too!). I also used one of Cheryls templates for this fun page, and had some fun playing around with making different words different color “themes.” Speaking with colors, not just words! I also had a lot of fun mixing and matching the stars and flowers from both collections for those spots on the template — again, they go together so wonderfully!

If you have seen my layouts you know my favorite thing to do is mix kits! It’s such a great way to create fresh new looks from your stash. For this week’s MIUM we were given the task of combining Traci’s newest collection with a favorite of mine We the People. Challenge accepted! Both collections have awesome patriotic themed elements which made it a breeze to combine. I just love how my layout turned out!
Cassie
I loved how easy it was to combine the new I Voted and We the People collections. I decided to use the Big Words digital templates as a cut file. This allowed me to mix various papers from both collections to back the letters of the words. I then pulled out some of my favorite embellishments from both lines to finish the page.
Trish
For this mash up of We the People and I Voted I leaned heavily into the patriotic themes of both collections. I used the warmer tones of We The People to compliment the warmer colors in my photo, but then put more of the direct focus of the page on the cards from the I Voted collection. Voting is something that is hugely important to me, so having multiple styles of collections is wonderful, especially since We the People seemed better suited to my photo, but I really loved the sentiments in the cards and word items in I Voted.
