Mix It Up Monday: Bookish + The Love List
Hello and welcome to the Thirtieth edition of our fun series: Mix It Up Monday! We love to show you how easy it is to mix and match TRD collections to create something new and wonderful!
For this month’s mash-up, I decided to combine our brand new Bookish collection with one of my favorite Valentines Day collections of all time: The Love List! I thought the colors in these two collections would play nicely together, but also, I thought the idea of books +listing things you love would work together very well too!
Check out the team’s examples below and I can’t wait to see you mix these two collections up too!

The Bookish and Love List collections play so well together. For my layout I created a background using mixed media elements from both collections and backed the photo with several papers from Bookish collection. For the embellishments I combined some of the labels and digital elements with the florals and hearts from the Love List collection. I love that these two collections pair so seamlessly it is hard to tell which collection is which.

I had such a great time mixing together the new Bookish release with The Love List! I really liked the hearts included in both collections, so I surrounded my photo with florals from The Love List and sprinkled hearts from both collections all around. For the background of my layout, I decided to add one of the paint images from the Bookish Ellies onto a paper from The Love List. And finally, for my journaling, I ripped up one of the journaling Ellies from Bookish. These two collections went together so well for me, I couldn’t even tell they were separate in my final layout!

These two collections are a perfect pairing. It’s not only how well the colors and patterns work together, but the word art and word strips helped me tell my love story about Gone With The Wind. I used Facebook screen shots from 2017 placed on the right hand side of the layout to tell one part of my story about being gifted a 1940 printing of the book from my sister-in-law, who was forever finding treasures at thrift and antique stores. I have several copies of the book, but this one is the oldest. My dear sister-in-law made a comment on my Facebook post, and it’s extra special because she lost her battle to cancer in 2000. On the left side, I used Rolodex cards to journal about when I first was exposed to the film and when I first read the novel. I like how my dual stories fit as perfectly together as these two collections!

I love to read and the new collection Bookish is perfect for me! So many funny elements! And it matches perfectly with The Love List! For this TN spread I¥ve used one of the signatures papers for TN and elements from both collections. I did a little hand stitching to make it more interesting!

I swear you to you, sometimes I have EVERY. INTENTION. Of doing a nice, clean scrapbook page… and a mixed media page just POPS out! In this case, I started putting together a page about my LOVE for BOOKS (appropriate for the two kids!) and then I just started journaling and … a mixed media page popped out! It’s not hard to do, when adding all of the lovely painty bits in both of these kits (I’ll admit, I used every last one of the paint elements from BOTH kits.) and just loving how they look on the page! The colors go so well together, and the stickers and journaling even work off of each other! And even though my journaling got a liiiiitle dark, it was nice to offset that with some happy colors!
A tip for combining some backgrounds for you -- I wanted to go another step further and add some “artsy bits” for the very background too, and the heart pattern from Love List was perfect… but I fell in love with the light blue from Bookish… So I combined the two! I layered the doodle heart on top of the blue paper, and then adjusted the opacity to where I liked it!

I loved pairing up Traci’s new kit Bookish with The Love List. Both kits went so well together for my page. I decided it went well with this photo of our trip to the bookstore. I wanted to document our trip and that we loved to visit the bookstore. Both kits had more than enough embellishments to tell my story. I love how it turned out!
