December Daily 2020: Day 6
Hello scrappy people! It’s Day 6 of my December Daily album and today I’m loving on my newfound love of wrapping gifts today. I don’t often take the time to really go all out with my gift wrapping because it seems silly to me to spend so much time on something people are going to rip into, but this year I’m taking a little more time and putting more thought into my wrapping, so I decided to do a spread about it!
I created the left hand side in photoshop using my #StayHome for the Holidays collection (with a bow from The Naughty List) and a fun text wrap around the photo of the wrapping paper.
Step By Step Process for Dimensional Hexagons
(I used my silhouette for the Hexagons, but you can easily use a punch or dies as well.)
For EACH hexagon you will need (2) Patterned Hexagons, (1) Photo Hexagon and (1) HALF hexagon for your journaling (or full hexagon if you want to fold your journaling down the middle) all the same size.
Score each of the patterned hexagons down the middle using a scoreboard and bone folder.
Cut your photo hexagon directly down the middle.
Adhere one side of each of your patterned hexagons “back to back” to your page. And by “back to back” I mean their folded spines should be touching and you’re adhering the hexagon half to your layout, not each other. Make sure the part of the pattern you want shown is on the INSIDE of the fold and not the outside, the outside will get covered up.
Adhere each half of your hexagon photo to the outer top sides of the hexagons so they form a full photo.
Adhere your journaling half hexagon on the inside of one of your hexagons, if desired.
Note: You will need a nice, thick cardstock patterned paper to create these dimensional pieces. Thinner patterned paper won’t give it the same “lift.” Trust me, I tried!
On the right, I had an extra photo after I took up a whole pocket for that fun award embellishment that I made in one of my December Advent videos on IGTV, so I created a photo flip and tucked this perfect card into the pocket.
The beautiful twine embellishment is actually some fancy gift wrap twine from the craft store and I thought it played into the theme nicely when wrapped around the photo like a present! You can see the full process below!
