December Daily 2020: Day 1
Hello lovelies and welcome to Day 1 of my 2020 December Daily Project! After taking last year off from this project, I decided to go full steam ahead this year because who DOESN’T need a distraction from 2020? This year, I’m mainly using my #StayHome for the Holidays collection, with some lovely bits and pieces from other places thrown in here and there. I designed the #StayHome for the Holidays collection with a pandemic-Christmas in mind, so (hopefully) it’s now or never, right?
So let’s dive in!
I always love opening up my December Daily albums to a large family photo, so the first spread I’m working on this year is our yearly family selfie, this year featuring matching jammies!
As much as I love the full page large photo, it doesn’t always tell the whole story of the moment, so I also included a bunch of “outtake” photos on the left hand side that show the full picture of what it’s like getting one good photo of this crew.
I hid my journaling on a tag in this darling pocket I made in my Day 2 December Advent Video over on Instagram. I just measured the dimensions of the tag and created a text block in that size in photoshop, printed, trimmed, backed it in patterned paper and then adhered it to the tag I already had done. I don’t love making foundation pages for my December Daily, but I do love pre-making fun embellishments and filler items!
For the outtake page, I pre-designed it lightly in photoshop so that I would know what size and where to adhere my circular photos because I knew I wanted a line of stitching holding the whole thing down, but I didn’t want the stitching to go through anyone’s faces. To do this, I decided to put my stitching at exactly 2” in, and after I had printed my journaling on cardstock, I drew a light pencil line at 2” to keep that stitch line in mind while I placed my photos and hearts.
Lastly, I used some adorable stamps from Kellie Stamps to create my title and add a little sentiment at the top.
Pro Tip: I knew I had VERY limited space for the word “outtakes” so in order to make sure it all fit nicely and the letters at the end weren’t scrunched up more than the ones at the front, I stamped the first letter of the title, last letter of the title and then the middle two letters so that I could evenly space the rest of the letters before and after that middle grouping.
Finally, I adhered a fun wood veneer tree from Cocoa Daisy’s Cranberry Rose collection and called that side good!
I decided, after much hemming and hawing, to keep my large photo unembellished other than adding a tab and sticker from Cocoa Daisy’s Cranberry Rose collection for page flipping.
On the back side of the pocket I created previously, I adhered two different patterned papers and some fun red scalloped felt trim to create a nicely grounded frame for one of the cute circular embellishments I created for the December Advent video series on my IG using Kristin Cronin Barrow’s Santa Claus and Co. Collection!
