Capturing Perfect Nighttime Photos with Ophelia

We often use the camera we always have on hand – our phone. These photos will eventually end up in your scrapbook pages. Sometimes, while capturing the moment, the photo may end up less than ideal. I’ll show you a quick and easy way to enhance your photo in Photoshop. Remember, it is still a jpg photo that already processed so what I am showing you are minor adjustments.

Below is a video showing the steps I took in Photoshop to enhance my photo. The photo is slightly dark and has a yellow/green hue because of the mixed lighting. Before I started my scrap layout, I first edited the photo.

I start with the Curves tool under Adjustments panel and add a slight S curve to bring up highlights, slightly lower shadows and raise midtones so the photo isn’t too flat. Next, I select Color Balance tool to correct the green/yellow hue by adjusting the sliders to slightly add red, more magenta and then increasing the blue. Once I’m satisfied with the colors, I move onto Exposure tool to slightly bring up exposure so the photo isn’t too dark. I’m satisfied with the final image so I flatten and save it.  That’s it!

Each adjustment I did may differ depending on your photo but overall, these are basic steps that should help you out.

Here is my layout using Haunting collection along with the final image that I edited.
