Bountiful Clusters with Cheryl!

Hey y’all! It’s Cheryl here again creating with another amazing collection from Traci and it’s perfect for so many layouts about autumn, Thanksgiving, gratefulness, and family.

This layout started with three photos of a bowl of fall decorations that I had on my bar in 2013. My son was eight years old at the time (he’s now 18!), and he had a bit of an obsession with little mini erasers. He collected these erasers from the school store. This hedgehog was one of his favorites. One fall day in October, this little hedgehog showed up in a bowl with natural autumnal filler in a nutshell. The hedgehog remained in the bowl all throughout the fall of 2013. I loved watching my son play with the hedgehog in its little home.

I generally will choose photos in odd numbers, but I especially love a grouping of three photos. I placed these three photos slightly above the horizontal line of the canvas. I could have just used one photo, but I loved the closeup shots and different angles that provide so much more detail. As I’ve shared before, when you cluster photos together, use the blank spaces in the photos to determine which photo will be on the top of your photo cluster or which photo will be underneath.

I started building layers underneath the photo cluster. On this layout, I chose two different layered photo frames. I then began adding patterned cards and patterned papers. Of course, I had to pick the card with the hedgehog in the pattern. I continued to add until I felt that the colors were starting to balance out.

I then began adding all my embellishments. I chose three different pieces of foliage, and then duplicated, moved, and rotated the foliage until there were three separate clusters. I added a hedgehog element with foliage at the bottom right so that the eye would be drawn around the photo and foliage cluster and then down to the bottom. I added ribbon, labels, scatters, and a word sticker for my title. Finally, I included a notebook paper, but flipped it vertically as I wanted the torn notebook edge showing along the bottom.

I built my page around the Traveler’s Notebook Signature Page from the Bountiful Collection. The little sections were perfect to document the different preparations we had made. I don’t do traveler’s notebooks, but I love using the signature pages on my layouts… they’re like journal cards with a lot more room to write!
