December of Memories 2021: Didn't Finish your last December Daily? No Problem! 5 Tips for Catching Up with Tracie!

It seems to be every scrapper’s most-commonly-realized worst nightmare - somehow the season just gets away from us and we never actually FINISH that monthly project (like December Daily) that we were going to work on!

Is this your quandry? Never fear! Team member Tracie is catching up on her 2020 album in 2021 and has 5 tips to make it EASIER to FINISH that album that’s collecting dust!

  1. Figure out what really needs to be scrapped. In my notebook I have every single Christmas thing we did listed out and I set out to scrap them all. However, when doing my last minute catch up, I step back and evaluate if ALL of these stories need to be told. Do I really need a page about my daughter's fourth baking day of the holidays? No, probably not, but I may roll it into the journaling on a page about something else we did that day. And just like that, I'm one page closer to being done!

2. Grab a template. Take some of the work out of designing a page from scratch and pick a template that works for your photos. I made up a set of templates ahead of time for my 2020 project, so I picked from that set to get started.

3. Let go of some of the embellishing. I can spend lots of time finding just the right embellishments for my pages and I love doing it. But when in a time crunch, it's ok to keep things simple. My unfinished pages seem to be scattered throughout my album, so a simple page sandwiched between two of my usual pages is actually a nice break in my book.

4. Simplify your journaling as well. When I work on my album in real time, I journal on every page whether it requires it or not. But, when coming back to a page 11 months later you find you don't remember the details or there wasn't a story to tell, it's okay to label the event and move on to the next page.

5. My December Daily catch up mantra... done is better than perfect! I know once that printed book is in my hands, I won't care at all that I could have added more flowers or stickers, or that I could have restated the obvious with an actual journaling block. I'm just thrilled to have a finished project that's ready to be displayed and passed around when family comes to visit.
