Ways To Work It Wednesday - Numbers
Hey Hey! It’s Ways to Work it Wednesday, the day we bring you an article on how to take something “ordinary” and turn it into something extraordinary!
Numbers surround us in our lives - from dates, to times, to budgets, to schedules, the world runs on numbers! But have you ever taken a moment to really work numbers into the design of your page? Today Heather, Kaye, and Ophie are bringing you 4 projects that focus on different ways to use numbers to inspire your creativity!
Heather - Ex Libris Galaxias
As a life-long bibliophile and numberphile (aka math teacher), what better way to document my love for both than in a traveler’s notebook documenting my 2023 book club? I used Traci’s fabulous Ex Libris Galaxias collection and put together a book club album that followed a page formula including an image of the book cover, a book review journaling card, and the month number.
I cut the numbers out using my Silhouette and also created an offset for each number to make them a bold addition to the page.
I used sticker elements on each page to give individuality and stamped the month and year that each book will be read. This was a quick project that I can add journaling to throughout the year as I read the books.
Kaye - Anywhere But Here + The Love List
Numbers are something that I use in Scrapbooking A LOT! I love doing lists and referring to pictures and journaling by using numbers. In my first layout that is exactly what I did.. we took a trip for my son’s baseball tournament and though I will be putting together a whole album for this trip I did want to incorporate it into our family album also. So the way I did that is take the highlights and use numbers to identify the pictures I was talking about in the journaling. A simple but yet effective way to to scrapbook. This spread I used the Anywhere But Here kit for the rainbow paper and the labels it was the perfect kit for these bright photos.
My second layout was using Numbers as a title! When I thought about this way I knew it had to be a significant date and one day kept popping up in my head and that was the day my oldest son was born. I think for most parents this is a huge day! Our lives change SOOO much on that first day you become a parent! This layout I used The Love List kit for the background paper along with the heart paper as an over layout on my photo to hide a few things that were distracting! There are of course so may other important days such as your wedding day or maybe it is a day you lost a parent. I understand those are hard subjects to document but using the date might be one way to not have to think about a title…
Ophie - We Are All Stories
Numbers when I scrapbook represent a static time in my life. The most basic for me is adding that date. It’s numbers but they are to record the day that memory happened. For my page, I wanted something more than a date. I wanted a number that meant something. So, using the (retired) We Are All Stories collection, I scrapped an abbreviated version of my life. The 45 years I spent on this year. I picked 5 key moments that represent milestones in my life which all circled towards where I am today at 45 years old.
