Ways to Work it Wednesday: Journal Cards
I love, love, love journal cards but I feel like sometimes we get caught in the trap of thinking they’re only for pocket scrapbooking, so the team is bringing you three ways to use journal cards today that have nothing to do with pockets!
Eve - Beautiful Dreamer
I like to use journal cards on my page and when I made this layout both journal cards had great quotes and I want to use them both! One of the advantages to hybrid product is the ability to edit the product a bit, so I used one card as-is and turned the sentiment on the other into a digital stamp using magic wand tool!
I selected the quotes and copied it onto my page, leaving the background behind, then O re-colored and blended it to the background paper!
Trish - Adventures Together
I absolutely LOVE using journal cards in a variety of ways. They make great layering for under photos in place of a frame. You can easily use one in place of a photo as the title for a photo free layout, or as the title on a page with photos. They make great filler for layers under areas. There really is no end to how you can use them, especially if you think of them as what they are - just smaller pieces of paper.
One of my favorite ways to use them is to show off all of the amazing patterns that Traci creates when I can't pick what paper to use on a layout. For this layout I simply created space double what I needed and put guides for a 12x12 area in the center. Then I used twelve 4x3 cards from the Adventures Together Collection to fill that space evenly.
Once I had decided where I wanted all of the cards, I merged them all onto one layer and then duplicated that layer 8 times and moved those to the top, sides, bottom and corners to make a larger repeat of the cards. After they were all placed I then merged them all together into one layer and then rotated that layer, and then cropped the layout down to the 12x12 size format. This created a seamless background to really show off all of the gorgeous patterns in the collection.
Stephanie - My Story Matters
I wanted to document my love of memory keeping in a Traveler's notebook layout. It got me thinking how can I fit all these journaling cards on such a small scale. The beauty of working with digital products is that I can change the size before printing, so I did just that. I also made sure to do my journaling because if you’re someone like me and hate your handwriting or write too big, the fonts in my laptop are a life saver. They turned into cute embellishment style cards and I love how many I got to put on one layout.
