Donna - Our Story Matters

I interpreted the sketch as is but added more embellishments and a couple layers of papers. One of the things I love about Our Story Matters is that it has a lot of word art bits that you can use for everyday stories. I couldn’t get enough of them. This kit is really for those seemingly mundane everyday stuff but important because of the feelings you captured at that very moment.

Tracie - Indivisible

Reading is resistance has been my mantra lately so when I saw this sketch, I thought it would be the perfect way to document the catalyst of my current journey. Seeing the stars on the sketch took me straight to Traci’s Indivisible collection. It has such great journal cards, that I decided to switch things around a bit. I substituted cards for the photos and a photo for the card. I like that this puts my book as the center of the page. From there, I pretty much followed the sketch, it made my page come together so quickly!

Melinda - Keep Chasing Rainbows

As I was printing the elements for my last TRD project I found myself with some extra vellum sticker paper. I filled up the rest of the page with the water colour rainbow from the Keep Chasing Rainbows collection and this made a perfect starting point for this sketch!

I know the sketch shows 2 photos - 1 x 3x4 and 1 x 6x4 - however I chose to swap over the 6x4 photo and the 3x4 journal card with the gorgeous rainbow I had printed!

I love the stitching lines on the sketch so I have incorported those into the vertical layers and also hand stitched my title!

I love the extra texture you can get with stitching of any kind! And this title is perfect for both the Keep Chasing Rainbows collection AND the journalling I’ve added!

Ronelia - Island Time

I loved this sketch because it can inspire you to go crazy with stitches, paper strips and lots of texture, or you can do quite simple like I did. I adapted it to a travelers notebook layout which meant that I wanted the layout to be quite flat. This rainbow woodgrain paper from Island Time was the perfect way to bring in texture and dimension without adding to the bulk.

Caroline - Our Story Matters

I decided to follow this sketch pretty closely but as I don’t have a large format printer I decided to work with a white cardstock background. I’m so glad I did as the colours from the Our Story Matters collection really pop on that white background.

It was easy for me to build layers behind my photos as Traci had placed embellishments in a perfect spot to hide my paper joins! I opted to add quite a few embellishment layers into those areas with pop- dots for added dimension.

I also added additional texture with distressed and torn edges to my paper layers … taking that one step further by inking my edges and with some ink splatters!

I haven’t worked at 12x12 size all year and this sketch has reminded me how much I love it!

Nikki - Hearth & Hollow

For this Sketchy Sunday I wanted to use some photos from our recent ice storm. It was such a big story in our lives and I really wanted to document it from a place of gratitude over sadness. I used Traci Reed’s Hearth & Hollow collection because of the beautiful warm colours and icons of house and home… it felt like the right collection to tell the story. I followed Traci’s sketch almost exactly because I love seeing how different the layouts can be with different collections and elements.
