Ronelia - Bountiful
This was such a fun sketch to work with because it can suit so many styles (from minimalist to maximalist), and colour choices! I decided to use the softer colours from the Bountiful collection for my take on this sketch, with some pops of yellow. The papers I used were mainly from the 6x4 patterned cards set, but I also used a few 12 x 12 solid coloured papers to ground the busyness of the patterns. I was going to do some hand stitching on this layout, but with all the layers that were added, I decided to add the “stitching lines” using black Nuvo drops instead. I also embellished my title a bit because it was looking a bit small. Otherwise, I stuck to the sketch pretty faithfully. I distinguished the layers by adding some ink blended borders here and there using oxide inks. After I was done I felt like it needed a final pop of colour so I messily went around the outside of my layout using a coordinating oxide ink. And with that, my layout was done.
Becky - Goldenrod
I love a sketch and really enjoyed creating my layout based on today’s sketch from Traci. I printed out two TN papers, three 4x6 cards, a journal card and some stickers from the Goldenrod collection. That’s what I love about hybrid scrapbooking, you can just print what you need so no waste! I deviated a little from the sketch by cutting down the 3x4 journal card and not adding the lines. I had thought of stitching to add the lines but once I had all my pieces stuck down I liked it as it was. I also decided to add embellishment clusters to the top left and bottom right squares and love how these look. Inking the edges and adding splatters finished my layout off nicely!
Karidan - 1st and 10
When I saw this sketch I was a little hesitant that it might be a bit busy for my liking but I took that as a challenge!! I scaled this sketch down to an 6x8 spread! Once I choose some background papers and found an old kit from Traci.. I like to throw it way back to the 1st And 10 kit!! I overlayed the field lines on the black/grey paper instead of using the green to keep the colors to red/black/and white which were the colors of my sons team! The brown alpha then popped in the middle and didn’t feel too much! All in all I love doing Sketchy Sundays as they allow me to push myself into designs I normally wouldn’t attempt!!
Tarrah - Haunting
I love a sketch to help me start if I don't already have an idea. This is a fabulous sketch for adding layers of paper and multiple photos! I was inspired by the original design of the sketch and pulled out the gorgeous Haunting collection for my cute witch niece! I decided to use the blues and the pinks from the collection and added machine stitching in black through the paper layers to create some texture.
