Go Photo-less and Speak Your Mind With Ophie!
We all typically use scrapbooking as a way to document our memories by including our photos with some journaling to tell a story. Often, telling our story can mean we have to move away from photos and focus on the words that live in our head. I do not often make pages where journaling is the main focus. Occasionally, I will use scrapbooking as a way to write down my thoughts that I need to write down. I don’t keep a written journal so scrapping becomes the way to write down the words.
I picked Traci’s The Manuscript kit to scrap my page because it’s a neutral tone kit with elements that relate to journaling. I used very little elements because I wanted the emphasis on the journaling.
Here is my page.
I have done journaling pages in the past where it was laid out like a traditional scrapbook page but without photos. At the time, that was how I wanted to document it. There is no right or wrong way to journal. It is up to you how you want to lay out your page. The important piece is to document your journaling.
3 Tips for Going Photo-less:
Use a “signature” paper (one that has large designs in the corners or along the edges like my page with The Manuscript above) and journal directly on the paper.
Even if you’re not using a collection with a signature paper, you can still journal directly on solids and use journal cards and embellishments to make your titles and clusters. Just because you’re not using photos doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with product! (see my second example layout above)
If you want to use many paper layers or more busy papers, journal cards or journal blocks are your friend! I used three solid paper journal blocks in my layout below to tell my story.
