Thankful, Grateful, Blessed - Tips for Scrapping Gratitude!
It’s Thanksgiving week here in the US and every November, thousands around the globe take the month to create gratitude journals and projects, but even if you don’t do a whole album, practicing gratitude in your scrapbooking is an important part of the process and can be cathartic - especially in rough times!
The team took a moment to reflect on their own gratitude and their projects are STUNNING and so inspiring, check them out below and get inspired for your own gratitude project!
Caroline - Time to Thrive
I have found that an intentional gratitude practice is a great way to promote presence and encourage a healthy mindset. In my experience it is often easier to find things to be grateful for when life is going according to plan - when we are well, when family and friends are happy, when the sun shines. In the past I used to find it harder to practice gratitude when things were not going as well as they might. Making the decision to practice gratitude INTENTIONALLY was a big shift for me. Rather than feeling low after a difficult day, or a period of ill health, I now reflect on my day and search those reflections for the moments of joy, the little things that can mean so much.
I have been feeling unwell lately with lingering discomfort following covid. Difficulty breathing made me feel particularly down but being intentionally grateful for the simple things in life truly helped me to stay positive and keep things in perspective.
I wanted to remember this time in my life, the need for very intentional breathing and celebrate the fact I am here, healing, breathing and with so much to be grateful for.
I spotted the simple sentiment card "Just Remember to Breathe" in Traci's "Time to Thrive" collection and that was the spark for telling this story. The "Time to Thrive" collection is PERFECT for telling stories of gratitude for our wellbeing, self-care and positive mindset. It has beautiful bright colours for cheerful projects but also some gorgeous, dainty and simple patterns if that is more your style.
I opted to go for a more minimal look for my Gratitude project and chose the delicate floral, dot and black and white patterns to compliment the black and white photo.
This older collection is well worth a revisit for those who may already own it, or if not, I would definitely recommend adding it to your stash!
Erika - Hearth & Hollow
I loved using the Hearth and Hollow collection. It was perfect in helping me document our recent fall family photos. The park was beautiful. Adding a toddler to the photo session though definitely kept us on our toes! Once I saw the beautiful wreaths included in this collection, I knew I wanted to layer them and create photo frames out of them. And gingham is pretty much iconically fall, so I had to include that as well, along with wood grain. Also, I printed my enlarged "Gratitude" title, and added some texture with mixed media. Lastly, I wanted to create a mini forest below my title with these adorable little trees. They added the perfect cozy touch. I hope this page brings you some inspiration today!
Cathy - The Love List
Daily practise of gratitude is great for all ages. The Love List Travellers Notebook collection has sweet printables for everyone. And who can resist those hand drawn florals and labels from the sticker collection.
Stephanie - October Mood + Hearth & Hollow
Thankful 30 seemed like a great project to participate in for the month of November. However I didn't want to go big in-between October daily and December daily, so I went with a 2 ring bound 4x6 album. To keep me inspired and committed to the project I decided to use a different collection each week. I enjoyed having a project that focused more on the prompts than photos, but the scrapbooker in me couldn't resist adding in some little photos, so those tags peeking out hold tiny photos that don't go with the prompts, but they just made me happy that week. That was enough to put them in.
