Hack Your Stash: Re-working Journal Cards with Karidan

I am more of an out of the page protector scrapbooker so I started feeling like my 3x4 and 4x6 journaling cards were not getting used and so I started looking for ways to start incorporating these cards into my scrapbooking pages! I have three different ways I have done this in this post… Two of them are brand new projects from the Sunkissed kit and one of them is a project I just worked on from the new Island Time kit that Traci just released!

Creating interactivity in my scrapbook by transforming journaling cards into interactive elements is one of my favorite ways to use them. Creating flip-outs, pockets, or accordion folds using multiple cards is also amazing ways I have used journaling cards in the past to stretch my kits.

This first project was a 4x6 card that I resized to 6.5x6 inches using photoshop as photoshop has amazing AI tools that really does all the work for you these days! I expanded the canvas size and told Ai to expand the background! I took this photo of my son and clipped it into the sun portion of the the card and added some journaling to the rays.

This is really my kind of scrapbooking… simple… easy to put together and getting the story told!

The next project that I made for this project is also super simple and one of my go-tos to capture a story. I love bullet points because they are perfect to write out a few memories or thoughts about this picture or about the event that just happened. I easily printed a label 3x4 card and cut it apart to fill white space in my photo which is also one of my favorite scrapbooking recipes… Large photo plus bullet points!

The project that I worked on for the release of the Island Time kit was also a great way to use Traci’s 3x4 cards. I expanded the canvas size to 7x8.25 and expanded the background so I would have room for album ring holes. Then I selected the inside of the frame to send that portion to my silhouette cutting machine to cut that portion out to create a flip out spread to reveal a family photo! I loved this spread and thought it was a clever way to start my family vacation album!

Incorporating 3x4/4x6 journaling cards into your scrapbooking projects opens up a world of creative possibilities. So the next time you dive into a scrapbooking kit, remember to think beyond traditional journaling and unleash your imagination. After all, the beauty of scrapbooking lies in the endless ways you can preserve and celebrate life's precious moments.  I hope this sparks some different ways to use those journaling cards up the next time you are looking to tell a story.
