Pixels 2 Paper with Tai - Pack a Punch with Punches!
Hello my scrappy friends. It’s Tai and I’m back with another layout that packs a punch. This time we are using your paper punches. Grab three or sizes of the same shape for this kind of layout. It can work with hearts, hexagons, flowers or in my example circles.
This technique will also work with any collection with multiple patterned papers. For my layout, I am using the new May collection from Traci Reed called Weekender. I took all the 3x4 cards in the collection which have a rainbow of colors and began punching out the circles in a variety of the sizes I had available.
Once they were all punched, I also decided to have my photo be cut into the largest sized circle and matted it with black card stock to have it stand out. I also popped it up with fun foam for added dimension.
I then had to decide how to place all my circles. It could have been done has confetti all over the layout. I could have done a horizontal alignment too. But I chose to place them on a diagonal. I liked it best.
Initially I placed one blue circle on left and one on the right. I also made sure two similar patterns were not touching. Once the initial layer was down, I then began adding circles with pop dots underneath to add a higher textured layer for interest across the diagonal.
For more balance to the layout I needed to add two more circle clusters in opposite corners. I accomplished this by placing a title in the lower right corner and a cluster in the upper left. These elements were found in the sticker sheets of the collection.
For my final details, I went in with some black ink splatters and then with some navy shimmery splatters as well. The photo is of Miguel and I on a date night recently and it needed a colorful layout to document the moment with the colorful umbrella all around us in the photo.
And easy but impactful layout, I hope you give it a try. If you would like to see the process video:
