Challenge Accepted: Pile on the Pattern with Vanessa

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to create a layout using at least 8 multicolored pattern papers from one of Traci’s amazing collections. Each of Traci’s collections are packed full of gorgeous pattern papers giving you lots of patterns to work with.

For my layout today I am working with the stunningly beautiful Bountiful collection released this month. The rich colors of this collection are so perfect for this time of year and the collection provided me with plenty of multicolored papers to work with.

To begin I printed all the papers in the TN size. This gave me all the patterns but on a smaller scale.

When working with multicolored busy pattern papers using a shaped die or punch is a great way to create a background. For my layout I selected a triangle die and went through each pattern paper cutting triangles in each pattern. With the triangles cut I inked the edges with vintage photo distress oxide ink and laid out the triangles on my background.

To add even more interest to the background I added some gold splatters and pulled out a leaf stamp to add some additional texture and dimension to the background. With the background complete the rest of the layout came together quickly. I backed the photos with multicolored woodgrain paper and pulled embellishments from the sticker sheets to create three clusters around the photos.

A finishing touch of enamel dots in coordinating colors and the layout was complete. I love how the layout turned out using the pattern papers on a smaller scale and adding in white space creates an eye-catching page while not being too busy.

For my layout today, I provided you with a simple method to add a lot of patterns to your layouts, but there are so many other methods to combine patterns. You can back cut files, cut blocks of papers and layer them all up, create a grid background, back your photos and so many more options. I cannot wait to see what you all create.
