New Collection + Older Photos = Revisiting Halloweens Past with Melinda
Hey everyone, Melinda here and I am super excited to be sharing these fun pages that I’ve created using the new and adorable Jack & Skelly Halloween collection!!
I started this album when this adorable collection dropped by creating a cover page which you can see come together on my YT channel here.
After that was created I jumped straight into some journalling using one of the beautiful 6x8 Signatures to tell a bit of a “why” story to kick off the album.
I added my journalling in Photoshop Elements and printed that out to add to the back of my cover page. I've matted that on some matte gold cardstock with a beautiful pattern paper behind and finished it all off with some matte gold pearls to the centre of the florals.
One of the things I truly love about hybrid crafting is that I can play with design elements on the screen and if I love it I can print it exactly as I have it on the screen or I can print each element separately and then layer together. If I don’t love it, I can delete and I’ve “lost” nothing but a few minutes!
The title/journalling card for our 2014 photos was edited in PSE and printed exactly as I had it on the screen. I’ve added in some of the digital kit elements for the title and the date in the bottom corner. I chose, this time, to add my journalling with pen to paper.
For continuity I’ve carried the bats over to the bottom 4x6 pattern card with my 2 smaller photos and added a couple of stamped & white heat embossed sentiment strips. These bats are actually also from the digital kit and they are the “felt” bats and I love the different texture that these printed with!
Flipping onto the back of that page protector I’ve again continued on by including the felt bats and the 2 smaller photos. As alot of the stories in this album are “older” stories I don’t have a lot to write about and am instead thoroughly enjoying this little walk down memory lane and playing with paper and stickers and glue!
The bottom pocket has, again, another smaller photo onto a 4x6 pattern paper and as I was going through our Halloween photos I noticed a recurring theme!! This photo of my husband with my 2 (at the time little!!) boys, walking in front of me, in costume just stirs something in my heart that is pure magic and joy and I have captured this moment (or something very similar) time and time again throughout the years and it is often the fave from Halloween!!
And that, wraps up our 2014 Halloween photos!
If you’d like to see this one come together you can watch that here:
Thankfully, I had MORE years so I could keep playing...
Straight into Halloween 2015 where we had a witch, a pirate, a fairy princess and Batman!
This time I’m working with 4 3x4 pockets (and the same on the back) PLUS a full 6x8 full page as I snapped more photo’s around our suburb than I had the year before! Lots of pumpkins!!
Once again, I did a lot of my designing in PSE but this time I decided to print some pieces and layer them up! The 2015 was printed directly onto the label (with the shadow layer) which I stuck to the 3x4 journalling card, added my hand written journalling and then added a couple of extra candy corn stickers for some extra fun!
I’ve kept these pretty simple by adding my slightly smaller than 3x4 photo to a 3x4 pattern card and adding a couple of labels that were perfect for these photos. The 4th pocket was one of the journalling cards and I just added a simple doodled border to balance the black pen from my journalling.
The back of this page protector is, once again, pretty simple! Slightly smaller than 3x4 photos stuck to a 3x4 pattern card with some star stickers for a little bit of fun!
One of the things I almost always print when I get a new Traci Reed Designs collection is the pattern cards – they are so versatile and also help me if I decided to do an ink swatch of best matches!
And here I am, once again, with a photo of hubby with my 2 boys, walking in front of me, in costume. Like I said earlier, one of my most favourite photos every year! For the 2015 version I wanted to feature it so I’ve dedicated a complete 6x8 page for this 1 3x4 photo and I love how I can layer up pieces to create interest and make it fun!
Again, I’ve used more 3x4 cards which I’ve used whole and also torn for some extra interest. I’ve added them at different angels for interest and inked up all of the edges of the papers to separate them a little from each other. A couple of stickers and then I’ve used some of the title pieces from the kit and layered those up.
If you’d like to see this one come together it’s also available here:
I had so much fun with this page and all of the pages and cards I’ve created so far!
Obviously, 2015 was a number of years ago so I still have plenty of Halloween photos to scrap. I’m really excited to mix a couple of Traci’s other collections for some of my coming pages in this album and I will definitely share them as they happen!
I hope that I’ve inspired you to get some of your stories onto paper, even it is just an “excuse” to play with fun patterns and colours. Some of those “just for fun” pages end up telling stories you never even realised you had!!
