Hello and welcome to the Twenty-Seventh edition of our fun series: Mix It Up Monday! We love to show you how easy it is to mix and match TRD collections to create something new and wonderful! Today we’re working with the Jack & Skelly and Haunting collections. two classic Halloween collections in different styles and color palettes that work together beautifully!

I was really excited to take up the challenge of mixing the new Jack and Skelly collection with last year’s Haunted. Although to be honest this wasn’t so much of a challenge as a gift as these two collections work perfectly together!!! The colour palette of Jack and Skelly is a beautiful traditional one whereas Haunted combines the traditional with some hits of pink, blue and purple . Combining these two together was perfect for me to document my plush pink pumpkin decor! I chose to do a flip up page with a combination of papers from both collections. I did however choose to work with embellishments from Haunted alone so I could bring in that hit of pink and purple. I absolutely love combining these two collections and have already mixed them up on several other pages in this year l’a October Daily. Make sure you give combining these two a go and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Mix it up Monday is always a great way to take a look back at older kits and remember what you have in your stash! Last year’s haunting kit had a bit of traditional Halloween mixed with pinks, blues and purples! I did keep this page pretty black and white I used one journaling card from each kit and hit a bit of mixed media from the haunting kit behind them! These two kits are great for documenting Halloween and will definitely be my go to’s for years to come!

When I saw that Traci was doing Mix It Up with Jack and Skelly AND Haunting together, I didn’t even think about it! These are my two favorite collections from her probably ever (but don’t tell the Christmas collections that, ok?) The colors and themes of these two collections are perfect together, and I thought they would be hilarious to use as tongue - in - cheek for a layout about our puppy’s first bath with us. While I am sure this wasn’t her first bath, it was the first one we gave her. We were all excited, but as soon as we placed her in the tub you could tell she felt the betrayal already. Ha! She did really well, considering how un-thrilled she was, until the very end. And then, BOOP! out the tub she went. So I’ve used the elements from both of these collections to indicate how scary it must have been for her. I especially loved the“Don’t be such a scaredy cat” button!

The challenge of mixing the new ‘Jack & Skelley’ with last year’s ‘Haunted’ collections was seamless! I opted to use my photo as the inspiration which was perfect as I got to use the fun new Skelly’s- which I adore! I used a combination of black and orange patterned papers from each collection and then just created a simple strip background. I added a mixture of ellies and stickers from each collection, with a few splats of black ink to complete this delightful layout.

If you know me, you know that I love Halloween. So when I saw this month's mix it up Monday featured the new Jack and Skelly collection along with last year's Haunting collection I was chomping at the bit.
I find the best way to mix collections together is to start with their alphas and make a title, so that's exactly what I did. My photo had some purple flowers in it so I used that as a jumping off point and grabbed purple alphas from The Haunting collection and the black and orange glitter alphas from Jack and Skelly to create a long title.
Then it was on to embellishing, where I grabbed mainly black and orange embellishments from each collection, with a sprinkle of purple and pink from Haunting. then I went to the Jack and skelly's embellishment kit where there are a ton of flowers. before glowing them down. I bent them up a little bit to give them more dimension And glued them propped up on each other.
