A Fun Layout idea using Journaling & Patterned Cards

Hi Friends! For today’s blog post I wanted to use the wonderful Love Potion collection and share one of my favorite ways to use journaling cards / patterned cards in a traditional memory keeping layout. This method can easily be translated into many other sized of memory keeping but for this example, I decided to go with a 12x12 layout.

The first thing you will want to do is collect all the cards you would like to use up. This is probably the hardest part too! For this example, I chose 3 patterns I really liked from the Patterned Cards, and another card I really liked from the Journaling Cards. (One of the best things about hybrid memory keeping, is being able to print multiple copies of the same card, and I printed quite a few copies of each!)

Once you have your cards selected, you then need to decide how to lay them out on your page. I do a lot of dry fitting and moving things around at this point to see what I like best. There are so many options for a layout like this. I have provided a couple of those possible layout options below for you:

For my finished layout, I decided to go with the second example shown above. I really liked the idea of incorporating a 4x6 card in the middle of my page to use as a background for my phones. Since the journaling card I chose would also work perfectly for embellishment clusters, I sprinkled only 3 of those around my photos and just made sure to have my patterns intermingled among each other (so the same patterns were not side by side).

This is such a fun way to use journaling cards, especially if you have some sitting in your stash that you need to use up!

Thank you for joining me today. See you next time!
