Four Paper Texture Ideas to add to Your Scrapbook Layout Today!

Hi Friends!! Today I will be using the Haunting Collection to share some different ways I like to use ONLY paper textures in my layouts. You can, of course, add texture to your layouts various ways, but in most cases you will usually need to have another product or tool on hand or need to purchase something to achieve the look. If you are like me, I like to use what I already have. Since we all usually have the paper, I am going to show you how to create some fun paper textures to add special touches to your layouts!

1. Paper Ripping

I think this one may be the most common, and it is one I use frequently! Ripping your paper adds a great texture and depending on how you rip, the texture will appear different. Pull the paper towards yourself to see the paper’s core (a), or pull the paper away from yourself to hide the paper’s core (b).

2. Edge Distressing

Similar to paper ripping, you can also distress the edges of your paper. This technique will give you a much more subtle effect than paper ripping will and I love to use this for the outside edges of my papers. There are tools to achieve this effect, but you can easily achieve it using your scissors too! You just need to rub your open scissors back and forth along the edge of your paper(s).

3. Crumpled Paper

This is another of my favorite techniques and I often use it in my bullet journal setups! I find that it works best on plain copy/printer paper. I like to print my patterns on thinner paper and then crumble the paper into a ball. When you unroll the paper and flatten it back out, the paper will have a bunch of texture and dimension!

4. Folded Paper

You can also fold your paper to add some texture to it. Different ways of folding will create different looks. My preferred way has the paper folded back and forth (so then end result looks like a zig zag).

I combined all of these techniques to make a fun page for my October Daily 2024 album and I have outlined below the areas each technique lies so you can see how well they all work together.

To finish this page off, I added a fun title from the cut files from the Haunting collection.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope this gives you some fun ideas for ways to use your paper.!
