Focus on the Food with Brianna
Food is such a huge part of my everyday life. As a wife and a mom of two I often times have to get creative with food options. It’s no surprise that PJL is my main form of documenting and I have over the years included many food photos. This year I’ve switched from 12x12 to the 9x12 size I’ve found that I haven’t been documenting as many of my food photos as I would like. When I am running out of space it is almost always a photo of food that will get scrapped.
I wanted to find a way to included these photos in my album in a way that is fun for me to do.
Here’s the challenge, finding a way to include them using pocket pages! Thankful Traci has designed the perfect collection which made the 75% easier. Where would I be without her?
Today we will be working with the Foodie collection from Traci Reed Designs. So grab your pocket pages a cup of coffee and your favorite item from the foodie collection.
Step 1 - Photos.
One question that always seems to come up is how do I choose my photos.
For this particular spread the answer is simple Im looking or photos of food lol.
On serious note when looking for photos for my pocket pages I am looking for photos that have a story attached to them. That may not be the case for every photo and that’s okay. I like the story telling aspect of PJL and there is a lot of conversation that can be sparked over a meal. I am working with 9x12 size pocket protector and this particular one has only 3x4 pockets. I wanted this to stand out in my album because it is not a traditional weekly spread. Here’s is what my pages look like after I have all my photos picked out
Step 2 - Collection
The Foodie collection by Traci Reed Designs is the perfect collection to document some of my most favorite foodie photos. This collection offers so much. If you aren’t used to working in pockets it can be pretty intimidating lucky all of Traci’s collections come with pre - made journaling cards which make it super simple to just pop them in and go. Her collections have something for everybody no matter what kind of scrapbooker you are. Today we will be using the stickers and the TN papers to make our own journaling cards. Here are few examples of some cards I have created using the Foodie collection.
Step 3 - Journaling
This part is completely optional. The goal of albums aside from providing a beautiful place to hold my photos is to tell my story, I want future generations to look back and be able to get to know me and my life. I don’t love to cook but I do it because it is necessary. We have to eat! I also love to eat out and try different kinds of food, and I want to make that known. Here are a look at some of the stories that I’ve included…
- Dinner
- Breakfast
- Favorite meals
- Restaurant favorites
Okay friends so now we have our photos, our favorite pieces from the foodie collection and our journaling planned out let’s put it all together!
As always I had such a great time working on this spread. Food is something that is apart of our day to day life and often gets overlooked. This week I challenge you to document some of the food stories own your life. Traci’s foodie collection is the perfect addition to help bring those yummy stories to life.
