December of Memories 2021: 3 Tips for Easy Embellishment Clusters

Creating clusters is the easiest way to have embellishments ready to go for a project! It works great when you don’t have time for a layout or when you have too much inspiration (and desperately needs to use all the embellishments from a collection), for example!

I love creating these if I have a creative block, too, and they help me to get back in creative mode again. Clusters can be made of all sorts of materials and sizes, and this time I created some big ones using Traci’s new Christmas collection: Candy Coated Christmas. I specifically used the library cards and the stickers, and I love the color combination they all have!

3 Tips for Easy Embellishment Clusters!

1. When creating a bunch of embellishment clusters at the same time, start with the same base for all of them! For these using the Candy Coated Christmas collection, I started with the Daily Ledger Cards! For the clusters using The Naughty List below, I made accordion folded paper bases.

2. Keep at least one layered embellishment consistent throughout as well! For both sets of clusters, I used labels or word bits from the stickers as my first layer above the base. You can do the same with matching icons or simple shapes like stars.

3) Once you have your base layers established, add in your “fun” layers - usually icons. The key to getting a cohesive look is clustering! Make sure things overlap and tuck in together just right to get your clusters to look like one embellishment rather than a bunch of embellishments stuck down together!
