Beyond The Main Event: Documenting the Prep Work with Tracie
As scrapbookers, we tend to scrap the big events in life. I know I focus on that most of the time. But sometimes there are stories to be captured in the prep work for these events.
This will be the first time both kids will be home to celebrate Thanksgiving since 2018 (to be fair, we traveled together the past two Thanksgivings so we have been together, just not at home). And because of that, I really wanted to put a little more effort into our celebration this year. Also, with older kids, this may be the one day of break that we actually see them all day before they potentially go out with friends who are also home for the holiday.
With this layout, I wanted to capture what we have planned, so the details don’t get lost when I scrap Thanksgiving Day.
I built my page around the Traveler’s Notebook Signature Page from the Bountiful Collection. The little sections were perfect to document the different preparations we had made. I don’t do traveler’s notebooks, but I love using the signature pages on my layouts… they’re like journal cards with a lot more room to write!
I then added a photo of the items I had purchased for our table. Behind that I tucked a couple of screenshots. One of the menu from the restaurant we ordered dinner from and one of our movie tickets.
From there, it was the fun stuff… playing with papers and elements from Bountiful! I had been dying to use that pumpkin paper, so I made it my base. The warm wood paper worked well with my photo and I used the pumpkin colored paper to set it off from the base paper. I added the title and a few more elements and my page was done!
I am glad that I have this all captured so when I go to scrap our photos from the actual day, I can focus on those stories, rather than the backstories!
