December Daily 2024 | Day 01

Welcome to December Daily 2024! Every year I at least start this project and get as far as I can before I poop out. Some years I finish the whole thing, some years are still waiting for me to finish the last few pages, and that’s okay!

This year, I didn’t even know if I was going to do a December Daily, but in the end, I decided I need to chase joy in whatever way I could at the end of one of the longest and hardest years of my life, so here we are!

December Daily 2024 | Day 01

For my first story this year, I wanted to talk about the beautiful ornaments I made with my youngest. We saw this idea on the internet somewhere and I just KNEW I had to make some gorgeous colorful ornaments for the tree - and this year’s “tacky Christmas,” as my son is calling it, was born!

I adored the photo of all the finished ornaments scattered on my craft desk, so I decided to make an enlargement on the page. I used an exact-o knife to cut out a square with a half circle notch from the photo so that I could create a flip-up using a card stock hinge to reveal more photos and my journaling.

I printed my journaling directly on another photo of the ornaments + paint we used and then on the top of the flap, I have a photo of my son holding the ornaments + papers and a journal card from my “The Naughty List” collection.

I leaned into the bright colors of the ornaments by pairing it with this beautifully bright collection, and I thought the “Jolly AF” card was perfect for capturing the snarky mood of Christmas this year.

Lastly, on the top of the photo in the “dead zone” created by the ornaments, I added my number (from an old Vicki Boutin chipboard set) and an acrylic piece from Inner Creativity Shop that says “Merry & Bright” which I added glitter to and sealed with clear coat so it wouldn’t get glitter all over my album!
