December Daily 2021: Day 1 | My Reason Why
Hey Hey Hey! Welcome to December Daily 2021 (a little late…). This year I decided to hold off a few days and really give myself some space to breathe regarding this project, so I’m starting mine on the 15th. I hope you’ll join me still!
I don’t think I’ve ever done a “reason why” page, but it felt especially fitting this year as my Christmas Spirit is low and I was questioning to myself why I was even going to bother with a project like this when I was feeling such a way.
But the truth is, this project makes me feel BETTER about Christmas. The daily ritual of finding joy and stories helps me focus on all the good parts of the season and makes me feel better about the whole thing. I love stretching my creative muscles and joining in on a community-wide event where the joy is contagious.
For this spread, I kept the base very simple, printing out two of the 6x8 Signature pages from the Candy Coated Christmas collection, having pre-typed my journaling on the tag page.
I then added a cut file by Paige Evans backed with patterns from Candy Coated Christmas in between the two pages on acetate so it would “float” over my tag. I don’t love the back side of things showing in my albums, so I backed the center of it with a perfectly-sized photo mat that I will add the perfect photo to later…perhaps a family shot, perhaps a shot that epitomizes my journaling. I’ll know it when I see it.
The final touches were the gold-foiled December Days Digital Stamp (you can see how I did that on Instagram here) used as a page turner for the cut file and a charm from Scrappin’ Happy Studio placed over a Christmas light sticker from Candy Coated Christmas at the top of my tag page.
