December Daily 2023: Story Four

I’ve got a simple and sweet page for you today combined with a photoshop text path tutorial!

Story Four

Every year, I have the same photo in my album of the wrapping paper I’m using that year. I like an aesthetic wrap combination that matches whatever the tree theme is that year so that everything looks neat and tidy under the tree. This year, though, my husband hilariously threw that for a loop, so I’m telling the story of the Disney Princess wrapping paper.

I knew I wanted to keep this page nice and clean, so I added my journaling directly to the photo in photoshop before printing, leaving room for me to layer the secondary photo over the main one.

To create the text path in photoshop, I used the pen tool to create anchor points around the shape I wanted to use, and then clicked inside the created path with my text tool and it auto-filled the path with place holder text that aligned to the shape I created.

To edit it, I cmd+clicked the path in the paths palette to select it and get the marching ants, then while holding down alt, I clicked and drag with my rectangular marquee tool to subtract the area I no longer wanted, then created a new path and filled it with my text (see video for details)

The finishing touches were this pink present (of course!) and a stamped day number using the Sadie Lower Alphabet Stamp. I also used the Christmas Tags Stamp available in the Oh What Fun! Kit to stamp the row of hearts at the bottom of my text.
