Creating & Customizing Your Own Project Life Cards with Brianna

Hello friends, I am so happy to be spending a little bit of time with you all today.
Today I want share with you all how I get the most out of my digital kits. I am no photoshop expert but I have picked up a thing or two that really allows me to get a real bang for my buck.

If you are like me it can be hard picking which digitals to download. I love the digital kits because they include so many hidden gems. Project life is my main form of Scrapbooking. I love being able to look back at the little memories and reflect on how they hav an impact on me and the person that I am becoming.  I am store manager at Starbucks and I am using the Festive Digital Kit and the Festive Currently Tags to document and really reflect on the this years holiday launch.

I first started by looking through my photos. I like to have a balance of cards and photos. Once I had all my photos picked I noticed there was a lot of red going on and I wanted to play off of that. I looked for elements and embellishments that were red or paired really nicely. I used the red and white striped Festive Chipboard Alphas to create my tittle. These are not included in the digital kit but there are a set of alphas that also would’ve worked just fine. I then used the guide lines in photo shop to help me get the letters just right.

I used some digital embellishments from the kit to add a little bit to that card. I used the puffy Christmas trees and the pom pom trim.

Next I had to get creative when it came to designing cards because none were included in the digital kit. Although there were a lot of titles that came in the kit a lot of them didn’t have to do with starbucks or coffee. Understandably so. In this first example I used a strip of the washi tape from the kit to create a border for this card. This kit included three different washi tapes and what I really loved is that they were translucent do they didn’t over power my spread at all, and again I used the guides to help me place it straight and decide how low I wanted it. This is one of my favorite cards.

Next I grabbed a piece of the pattern paper. The digital kit includes 20 patterned papers. I used this multi colored striped one because it reminded me of the cups that Starbucks launched this year. After popping that on to a 3x4 card I used the rectangle tool in photo shop to give me a blank space to journal on. So simple, and I loved how it turned out.

Next I took one of the tags and used that to create my own journaling card. Now this one is a three step process but its very simple and you will love the end result I promise. First I opened a blank 3x4 canvas, then I grabbed tag and popped it on top. I resized it so that the star was perfectly aligned with the edge of the card. Next I used my color picker tool to change the entire background white. Lastly I used my eraser tool to get rid of that little tag whole and then tada a journaling card.

Another great Idea that I had was to use one of the frames a a journaling card. I just resized it to 3x4. I loved how it turned out.

The last technique that I want to share with you all is how to take part of a design and use that to create your own journaling card. I first start by picking out a tag that I liked. I love this currently feeling one but the blue background just didn’t match my spread. Here’s how I transformed it, I used the object selection tools and I drew a box around the part that I Wanted to fussy cut. A dash line will appear around what will be cut from the original design, after making sure that it was to my liking I copy and pasted it on to a blank 3x4 canvas. Super easy.

I used that method quite a few times. It is my most favorite. I paired that with one of the ribbons from the kit I also changed the color of the heart to blue so the it pop against the white back ground.

I want to thank you all for spending a little bit of time with me today. I hope you enjoy this post and were able to learn something new today. See you all next time friends.
