Creating your Own Journal Cards from Stickers with Brianna

Hello Friends,
I am so happy to be back this week sharing another technique with all of you. One of the questions I get asked the most is how do I determine what kits to buy & what do I look for? The answer is simple,. I just look for what I like. If I love the colors of a kit or a certain theme then Im sold. I get the most bang for my buck by taking elements of a kit and jazzing them up a little bit. It’s no secret project life is my main form of documenting. It’s my go to. While I have branched out into other forms this is the one that holds my heart. I am able to capture so much within the the pages of my album.

A few months a go I showed you all how to make journaling cards out of one of Traci’s tags collections. It was a simple one page digital spread. Today we are going to dive deep and revisit that technique of creating your own journaling cards but this time we are working on a full spread with two inserts in my 9x12 project life album, and we are going to do it all with just one sticker collection ! I know seems impossible right ! The thing that I appreciate about Traci’s collections is that you are really going to get the most for your dollar here. She’s gonna make sure that you have everything you need. Today I am using the My Story Matters collection to document week 18 in my May 2024 project life album. This also happens to be the week of Mothers day which I thought was just perfect to focus on some of the smaller Stories about me. Let’s get started.

**Insert happy dance & music**

First let’s take a look at what you get in this particular sticker collection.

There is just so much here. Right away I see so many things that we can turn into cards. The words strips on the top left let’s start there. I loved the phases on them. They said things like I love this photo of me, Thankful for this story, sharing your story is a gift, capturing the moment, this is an important part of who I am… These are PERFECT jump[ing off points. I often get asked how to I fund Storie to tell. When I’m going about my week I’m just snapping photos. Im not preplanning or anything like that. Im taking the photos of my life. It’s not until I sit down to do this project that I think and dig a little deeper. I used these prompts to help guide my journaling. I always look for kits that have some kind go jumping off point. That always helps me get there juices flowing. When I saw these I knew I had to use them. I was just in love with the brightness of the colors and simplicity of the design. I used a total of 5. I turned the stickers 90 degrees and enlarged them to fill up as much of the paper without compromising the design.  Take a look below to see how they turned out.

Next up I want to bring your attention to these circle’s they are pictured in the bottom left had corner. They say documented, noted, and recored. I love that that there were three of them just enough to show some repetition and the phases are easily prepared with with any story.
I told the stories of how I worked late took my mom grocery shopping and a old mother’s day card my daughter had made me. Here’s a look at how they turned out.

So far im loving how everything is coming together. The last card design comes from the titles that are in the upper right hand corner. There were 4 of those and they are also perfect jumping  off points. They actually fit perfectly this week with some stories that wanted to tell. I love the boldness of the words and the offset color design is one of my faves. Check them out below.

I know sometimes we hear the words photoshop and think oh no that’s going to take too much work but I literally designed this 4 page spread in 1 hr. The longest part was typing up the journaling but you don’t have to say as much as I did to create beautiful pages. Here are some options for filler cards and some alternate card ideas. You can make it as simple or as complex as you want.

The very last thing I did was use the sticker kit as actually stickers. Lol. It seems so simple but this is what they were actually intended for. I printed them out and backed them on some light weight chipboard to create some dimension on the my layout. Tracis files includes a fussy cut version of the stickers which just made it even easier.

Take a look at what I picked out.

In typical Brianna fashion I forgot to add the embellishments. I took the final photos before I added them but all in all it turned out good. Have a look at the almost finished spread.

I really enjoyed this one it was the perfect way to spend my Sunday afternoon. I hope that you found something worth adding to your portfolio’s today. I strongly encourage you to take a lot at some of the stickers in Traci’s collections I promise that you won’t be disappointed. Until next time friends happy crafting.
