Challenge Accepted: No Embellishments, No Problem with Vanessa!
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a layout using just pattern paper from any of the amazing Traci Reed Designs collections. Traci’s collections have an array of patterns and solid colors giving you lots of options to create your layout and embellishments. The goal is to create your base page and then pull out those stamps, cutting machines, dies, punches and scissors and create your own embellishments for your layout.
For my layout I choose the My Person collection and an assortment of stamps and dies to create my own embellishments. To start I fussy cut some florals from one of the pattern papers, then die cut and stamped some labels, florals, and tickets from several of the pattern and solid papers in the collection. Once I had all the embellishments created, I was ready to put my layout together.
I chose a rose-colored cardstock from my stash and the woodgrain paper from the collection to create my background. Next came some additional patterns and my photo centered on the layout. To add some texture, I pulled out some ribbon and added it to the background.
With my background in place, I layered up my embellishments and created two clusters, one in the bottom left and the other in the top right. Once the clusters were in place, I separated my title between the top and bottom clusters, added some enamel dots and white ink splatters and called it complete.
I love that just using paper from a collection and digging into my stash to pull out my tools I was able create a fun layout that does not feel like it is missing the embellishments and stickers that come with the collection. I hope you will give this challenge a try and see what you can create. To see this layout come together you can check out the process video on my channel.
