April Theme: Blooming
It’s springtime here in the northern hemisphere so I’ve got “blooming” on my mind! April’s blooming theme can be interpreted in so many ways and as Theresa, Becky and Stacy demonstrated here, it’s a fantastic jumping off point to inspire so many layouts!
So many of my collections have affirmations and quotes designed to inspire you to keep on blooming, and ALL my collections include multitudes of flowers, so this theme is a cinch!
Theresa - Time To Thrive
Every spring the flowers remind me that we are constantly growing, regenerating, cutting back, and yes, blooming. These little bulbs popped up early in February, a little unexpectedly but sometimes blooms are like that. I found the affirmations in the Time to Thrive collection and thought they would be perfect with this photo of our little early blooms.
I created a fun vellum using the blue alphabet in the collection, and then also created four affirmation tags. Each one has a floral, a tag, a word strip, and a butterfly in swirls of color. Don’t forget colorful twine too! I added my journaling on the photo itself using the labels and a few tiny printed hearts. I am so glad I have this documented in my album now!
Stacy - Wildflower
The theme was blooming– so I obsessed with the wildflower collection to document Harper’s joy of an outdoor flower market, she was so excited to see the different choices– and just like her, when I saw the Wildflower collection I was so overjoyed!
The overlays of butterflies were perfect to use in the white background and then I went ahead and added various pieces of the pattern paper from this gorgeous collection to bring depth and used the ephemera to make the images and story pop and come together.
It’s so easy when using a digital collection work for you in so many ways– I made this my own in a hybrid style– you aren’t limited to size or process as you can manipulate them in whatever way you need! The Wildflower collection is one of my go to for spring and summer layouts and project life– it has so many amazing ways to be used!
Becky - Time To Thrive + Happy Day
When I signed up to create a layout for this months theme of Blooming I had first thought to do something about my garden. Then my daughter’s dress arrived for the wedding of her best friend in Canada and when she tried it on I knew this was what I had to scrap about. She has (and she doesn’t mind me telling you) various mental health problems and ASD, ADHD and borderline personality disorder and has had a really tough few years. To see her face when she put on this dress made me realise that she is coming into her own again and ‘blooming’!
So I had a look at Traci’s collections to choose the collections I thought would work best. I went with a few embellishments from Happy Day and then the majority of the papers and embellishments are from Time to Thrive.
The quote, which I used as a title, is from a 4x6 card which I trimmed down and backed with some of the patterned paper. Some of the embellishments I printed on vellum and tucked in amongst the paper ones and then used them to create a soft and gentle trail to the bottom corner of the page. I added some ink splodges to go with the distressing on the patterned paper and to finish added a few gold and jewel stars. I love how this turned out and my daughter is happy with it too!
