First, I measure the jar and came up with this layout in photoshop

(I had it vertical to print)
Then I cut it out, and used an Xyron 500 for adhesive. The xyron adhesive worked well for holding it in place, but it did not hold at the seam after a few hours, so I added some superglue on the seam. I’m not sure if it was the glass or the thick matte paper I printed on.
I added ribbon around the cover with glue dots, and I also adhered the gem with a glue dot.
Much prettier than the plain change jar my oldest daughter was using
Have a great day!

There are 4 cards in the lacing cards pack. I decided to only use 3, but if I can dig up a decent photo of Jordan, Tiger, and I, I’ll probably add the 4th page to the bottom with the photo of all of us. That’s part of the beauty of this project! You can do as little or as much as you want. I see this working great as individual door signs for kids rooms, or in the living room with a photo of each family member on it’s own card.
So print our your LO’s and adhere them to your cards. I waited to punch my holes until I had everything glued down, so I would only have to punch the hole once. I punched 2 holes in the top of the first card to put the ribbon in to hang it. I punch 3 holes in the bottom of card 1, top and bottom of card 2, and top of card 3. These I used to lace together the cards with ribbon.
I painted my chipboard alphas (by Maya Road) with white so that they would stand out more. I glued some buttons down (cuz I couldn’t find any flowers in my stash that coordinated enough for me liking, lol) and called it a night! Easy peasy! I also took some time to braid together 3 ribbons for it all to hang from, which was fun! I haven’t braided anything in forever, lol.

And there ya have it! A super simple project for those super cute lacing cards. Don’t forget to link us up here in the comments if you give this project a shot!
Have a great week!

Hi everyone!! Shawna here again with another Altered Monday project for you! My oldest daughter started back to school last week so I came up with an easy little project for her new backpack! I made a little chipboard tag with her photo from the 1st day of school and all of our contact information on it, so that in case of an emergency someone would be able to contact us. Or it’s also handy for if she leaves her backpack somewhere and someone finds it they can return it to us!
I decided to make it in the shape of the Basic Grey Luggage Tag chipboard album and used a blank template (reduced to about 85% of original size) made by Kim Wresh and then all papers and elements were from Traci’s adorable Foooore! kit. Since Kaylie’s backpack is purple, pink & black with Hannah Montana on it I pulled all the pink & purple stuff from the kit. Here’s what my printed pages looked like before I cut them out -

So then I cut the 2 pages out, sanded the edges and then used one of the pages as a template to cut a piece of chipboard to match. I didn’t have any of the BG album pages on hand, but I had lots of 12×12 sheets of chipboard that I buy at my LSS so it was easy enough to cut a matching piece out!I used Mod Podge and a foam brush to glue the pages to the chipboard and then once they were dry I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole in it. I also sanded the edges a bit more and used a Ranger distressing ink pad around the edges. Then I used a metal jump ring and some coordinating ribbon from Michael’s to embellish it up a little. I decided to keep it pretty simple since this will be hanging from her backpack and will probably take quite a bit of abuse over the coming months! Here’s the finished project (sorry for the not so great photo, forgot to adjust the white balance setting on my camera lol) -

And here it is being modeled on Kaylie’s backpack! She thought it was really cool and can’t wait to show it off to her friends at school tomorrow! And of course Kelsie is impatiently waiting for me to make her one for her backpack since she starts preschool on Wednesday!

Well that’s it for me today! Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!!

Hi everyone! Hawt Mama Julie here with my first post on Altered Monday! My 2.5 year old has been playing Candyland for the last couple months. I decided it was time to introduce her to the memory game. However, we live 45 minutes from the nearest store that would have the game, so I decided to make my own with scrap elements! It turned out great – she loves it, and it was quick and easy! Here’s what mine looks like:

You can download my template here.
Instructions:
1) Place elements of your choice in the sqaures of the template.

I used Sweet on You & Sunshine Playtime.

2) Print 2 copies

3) Cut apart & Play!

Have a great week!

Hey everyone! Hybrid Hawt Mama Shawna here with an evening edition of Altered Monday & it also hapens to be my very first post here on the Hawt Mama Blog!! I’ve been trying to get my little project done for most of the day, which is kind of difficult when your husband and 3 kids are constantly bugging you lol! I’m sure I’m not the only Mama counting the days til school is back in session for the new school year so you can send those kidlets and (in my case!) those teacher husbands back to school! Anyways let’s get down to business & I’ll show you my project I’ve been working on!
I have a bunch of these little 4×4 medium weight chipboard coasters that I purchased from a blog share of a fellow digiscrapper last year & I love doing little projects with them! So far I’ve made several little chipboard mini albums with them using my Bind-it-All but I’ve really been wanting to make a hybrid coaster box with some and once I saw Traci’s new Triple Dip with Dani Mogstad & Shawna Clingerman called 2 Straws I knew exactly which kit to use!
First here’s a quick shot of my supplies as I was ready to get started- 5 chipboard coasters, 10 assorted papers from the kit resized to 4×4 each and printed on my photo printer and a couple of elements from the kit to add to the finished project.

Then I used my paper trimmer to cut out the paper squares and used Mod Podge to adhere the papers to the coasters with a foam brush and then once dry I sanded & inked the edges of each coaster. Then I used my Bind-it-All machine to punch holes in the sides of each coaster and then used small strips of pink grosgrain ribbon to tie the coasters together to form the sides of the box. Then all that was left to do was use some liquid adhesive to adhere the last coaster to the bottom of the box and then add the extra elements to the box with Glue Dots. I also added some of the cute little sundaes and such from the kit to the other side of the box but I forgot to take a photo of that side! Oops!

So there’s my finished little project, I think it turned out way cute! I think I’ll display it here on my computer desk with some other little projects I’ve completed. It will be handy for holding all kinds of little odds and ends that always seem to make their way onto my desk! I haven’t sealed it yet with a spray sealant but I plan to (at least on the inside), that way it’s protected from all the bits that will end up in there. So that’s about it from me, hope everyone has a great week!!

Hi everyone!!! This is Hawt Mama Samara posting from soon to be uber hot (that’s temperature hot) California. On a recent trip to one of my craft stores I found these adorable little birdhouses for $1! That’s right, ONE BUCK! Now if you head over to Trader Joe’s you could pick up a bottle of two buck chuck and haver yourselves a crafting party!! LOL. It’s way to early to be thinking about Joe’s Two Buck Chuck….

I also want to clarify step 5. Lay the paper face down on a cutting mat. Lay the birdhouse on top. Trace the birdhouse edge and trim the paper. You’ll have to trim quite a bit to get a perfect fit.
Peace out ladies!

I love the wordart that Traci made in her Sweet On You kit. The little fruity sayings were just too cute. I decided to kick up the cute factor buy putting them on little onesies for my niece. Making iron-on transfers is really easy and after you have decided what you want to print, you simply follow the directions on the package of iron-on transfers that you have purchased.
For my onesies I picked the 3 wordart pieces and the matching fruits and arranged them onto a 8.5″x11″ document in Photoshop. For my transfers I purchased, it said that I needed to reverse the image before printing. I decided just to use the “mirror image” printing option for my HP printer. After printing my transfer I let it dry for a while, then cut apart my images.

After making sure my iron setting matched the directions, I plugged in my iron & let it heat up. According to my directions the printed image is the side that faces the fabric. So I turned over my designs and arranged them on the onesie.

I then pressed the images with the iron.

Here are the fronts of the onesies:

Here are the backs, well really it is the bums of the onesies LOL

I hope you try this super easy altered project. Be sure to link us up if you do!! Till next time,
Amber

Hey Everyone! Amber back with the second part of the tutorial to finish up the assembly of your Jacob’s Ladder.
If you missed part one you can find it here.
When we last left off we had finished gluing the pages to the chipboard coasters and had applied the sticky tape to the backs of the lined pages.
Take your first coaster (the one you want to be the “cover”) and turn it over so the sticky tape is facing up. Remove the red liner from the tape. Take your 3 pieces of ribbon, the first and last pieces have the extra ribbon towards the top of the page and the middle piece towards the bottom.

Take your next coaster and place it back down on top of the ribbons so the backs face each other. (After I took the picture below I realized that the layout needs to be upside down, flip yours the correct way)

Fold the ribbons over the coaster, do not glue down and make sure the ribbons do not get crossed or twisted. In this picture I did not pull the ribbons tight so I could take the picture. Before you place the next coaster pull the ribbons tight.

The next coaster that you put “layout” down will have the sticky tape on the back.

Remove the red liner and fold the ribbons over the coaster and press onto the sticky tape. Repeat until you get to the last coaster with the sticky tape. After you glue down the ribbons for the last time trim the extra ribbon and add a few more pieces of sticky tape between the ribbons.

Take your very last coaster that does not have a back and glue it down “layout” facing up. It will need to be upside down.

Now you album is fully assembled. Open it up and check to make sure all the layouts on the front face the same direction, and all the layouts on the back face the same direction. If there are any facing the wrong way you can gently slip the layout out from between the ribbons and then turn it the correct way.

Here are my 2 final pictures of the completed album:
