Today’s post comes from Janelle Van Leuven.Hello fellow scrappers! Janelle here on the blog today bringing you a few fun 4th of July layouts that I think will inspire you for scrapping the holiday this year!
The first three layouts were made with Traci’s Tis of Thee kit. It’s such a great patriotic kit! If you missed it when it came out a few years ago, I suggest you revisit it and add it to your stash!
When I think of the 4th, I immediately think of stars and stripes! Let’s take a look at a few layouts that use them both.
This one is from elsleepe:I really like how she’s used striping across her layout and I love that she’s used Traci’s Clip It To Me Vol. 4 to give it an old rugged feel. Our beloved America is 200+ years old so I think rugged is perfect for a 4th layout. The tears in this page almost make it look like an actual paper layout. It’s the perfect combo of rustic and beautiful!
This next layout is from me:When I started thinking about 4th of July layouts, there was a template that immediately came to my mind. This template, Starbright, is by Zoliofrope and was released a few months ago at Sweet Shoppe. I love the star shape and the individual pieces within the star. They add such a cool feel. Doesn’t Zoliofrope’s template make a perfect combo with Tis of Thee?
Next up is from tanyiadeskins:I love how she has used song lyrics for her journaling! There are so many great songs you could use the lyrics from on a 4th of July layout. What songs come to mind for your patriotic layouts?
This last one, I couldn’t help but share! It is one of my all time favorite layouts that I’ve ever created. And much to my surprise, it wasn’t that difficult to execute.I was inspired to make this page during an SSD birthday challenge to create a layout based on the word freedom and I really love how it turned out. I started by creating a simple template using the shape tool. Click the template image below to download a full 12×12 version so you can make your own layout!Once I had my template ready, then I found flowers, foliage, ribbons, stars & other ellies in red white and blue and began layering them on top of the same color shapes in the template. It went rather quickly because I already knew just how the layout was supposed to turn out. The template took the guess work out of making sure I had my “stripes” spaced evenly.
It took a whole lot of flowers to make this page and I couldn’t believe how many I had that actually worked for the page!
So check your stash for these beauties or head to the sweetest shoppe on the web!
I hope you have been inspired! I would love to see your layouts if you decide to attempt one. Don’t forget to post your layout in the Sweet Shoppe gallery and link me up to it in the comments here. Have a happy 4th!
