I lost my husband in 2008 in the Iraq war, for two years I tried to move on with my life and made the changes necessary to do so. One of those was moving out of the military environment, I moved to PA.
One night I was driving around my new area and stopped at a country western bar inside of a Holiday inn. That night I met a man who changed my life, he showed me i can love again and that sadness can be overcome.
At first we hung out as friends and he showed me around the state. (I had never been to PA before I moved here) then as time wore on we started to accept the feelings we had for each other, we have since moved in together and are planning our lives together. This coming winter I will have the honor of calling him my “husband”.

This time of year, many people focus on a word that they want to encompass their goals for the new year.  I’ve often come up with words myself, but I’ve never really done much with them because I don’t keep them at the forefront of my life.  This year I decided to make myself a big poster with my word and a quote from Og Mandino:

I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply ALL my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy.

Yup, that about sums it up..
